One of the things that has helped the Jewish people survive throughout their millennia of history has been their adherence to keeping Jewish names. This was the overriding theme of recent events at JSU Public School Clubs across the Greater Atlanta area, where hundreds of teens made Jewish name braceletes, necklaces, and key chains.

Guided by Rabbi Chaim Neiditch, each event’s participants learned how Judaism attaches a very special importance to one’s Hebrew name, and of the Divine inspiration behind many of these names. Each teen learned the translation of their Hebrew name as well as how their name related to their personal characteristics. Interestingly, these traits often tied in quite well with many of their family histories, which they were only too happy to share with the rest of the group, especially if named after an ancestor. Everyone took home either a bracelet, necklace, or key chain to proudly display their Jewish name.
